Got a new boat and the white caulking-like material around the exterior part of the stuffing box split :( I can actually see wood underneath it.
Is this easily repairable? Could I just fix it with epoxy (or whatever white material it is)?
This is the best pic I could manage- when I use the flash the glare is too much.

Hummmm, does the wood itself look like it is sealed? If so, you might be ok, if you have no leaks... if the wood looks bare, unsealed, that might be another story...
Remember, anything is repairable! :)

Remember, anything is repairable! :)No it's like bare plank underneath. I think it would leak through when placed on the water.
I could return it under warranty- but don’t want to go through the trouble of shipping it back and all if it is easily repairable.
Plus of course there will be a time when it is NOT under warranty and if it were to occur at a later date I would have to fix it anyway so...

Try to figure out what the 'white material' is first.. is it like bath sealant or of a harder material?.
If its easily removable, it could be repaired with epoxy... as thats what stuffing tubes should be held in the hull with anyway!... and then touched in with paint to match the hull.

Yep, I agree with Mr. Toes! :) if the stuffing tube was not mounted originally with epoxy, it probably should be... Could be a simple fix to pop the tube out, clean it up and re mount it with some West thickened with 404... that will also take care of the bare wood issue... :) Better than new! :)

Hummm, sounds like it could just be silicon caulking...

That looks to me like an Equipage hull, that someone added an Octura water pickup to. The stock Equipage boats do not have any goop of any sort attached to the stuffing tube on the outside of the hull. Just a small patch area from the epoxy that was poured on the inside of the hull.
