PhotoShip One (a division of GAUI) is in development of a large scale industrial electric helicopter. 900mm+ main blades, redundant motor/esc power via dual main gears with one way auto hubs. Failure of one power system will stop one main gear but a controlled emergency descent should be doable on one system. Won't stay in the air that way but will allow for longer distance return to base emergency landings or at the very least allow pilot to ditch helicopter in a safer place than with a full auto descent.

Plan is to fly on two independent 12s packs. 20lb payload. Not sure on run time but would not be less than 10 minutes. Main use is for industrial and motion picture missions.

Might see this helicopter flying by late summer/early fall '09.
