View Full Version : Question A couple questions about building the Amsterdam

I'm really getting started on my Amsterdam kit and have two questions. First, in the parts list, under the "Material" column, what does "Ramin" mean? Everything else is either brass, plywood, plastic, etc...
Also, I don't like the way the upperdecks mount to the deck with the tab and slot idea. Seems like an easy way for water to get into the boat. I was thinking about making the hole in the deck slightly smaller and building a coffer dam all the way around the hole. Fill the slots in the deck and sand off the tabs. Last off, make the upper works a friction fit over the coffer dam on the deck. Maybe some rare earth magnets to keep it all on deck. Sound like a good idea?
Thanks, Jay

Are you kidding?!?! So this part must be part of the stick wood bundle. Do you think it's pre cut to length? That would make it easier to I.D. by the size.

Anyone have any input on this idea?

Jay,
Yep, this is the stick wood bundle, nothing is cut to size but the parts list in the instruction manual tells you what size each piece should be.
Also there are quite a few Amsterdam builds going on so do a search and I'm sure you'll find alot of helpful info. (I would post links but I only hopped in here for a quick visit)
