Here's an inflight shot of my Reaper doing about 130mph exported from a video.
It's powered by a kit-built Wren Mw54.

I dig those planes. And it must be nice to have all that space to fly! Gotta love the desert.

Sweet, I sure wish there were drawings for the reaper then I could stretch it to put one of my turbines in. I have spent so much time building turbines that I cant afford a fancy jet. I would like to build a big reaper which would be a lot cheaper!! There is not much out there for 30Lb thrust turbines that cost less than my house!!

ScottM,
I don't know how to do that! I've got about 1 minute and 45 seconds of the thing flying. The file is about 490MB. I'll gladly share it.

... did I hear you right? 490 meg?

You should encode it using DivX... www.divx.com . There's instructions there for how to use their encoder.

You'll also need virtualdub (virtualdub.com)

Hi.

I am currently building a Super Reaper that is to be powered by my MW54 buildt from scratch.

I have still not seen a Super Reaper in flight so it would have been great to seen your video.

Would be fine with som additional info on how it performs with the mw54 along with some technical specs as weight, equipment etc.

I just got back from the field. I was just out for a short time and put up four more flights. My Reaper weighs right at 171/4 pounds dry with retracts and dual everything. I have dual 1700 mah 5-cell nicads with Maxx Products Miracle Switches and a servo on each control surface including flaps. I'm using Hitec 5625s on elevators and flaps. I have 5245s on rudders and ailerons. The Dave Brown MECHANICAL retracts are motivated by Futaba retract servos. I'm also using 65 millimeter Trim wheels and brakes.

I do non-stop aerobatics with the thing. It runs out of "steam" at about 600 feet of vertical climb from a level, full-power run-in. I can do a fairly large half-inside loop immediately followed by a full outside then a half inside. This one is cool because it really "chugs" though the first half of the outside and it's pretty much right above me making lots of noise!

Thanks for great text and picture.

Sure sounds like you have a well-performing Reaper. Nice to hear that you get that good performance with the mw54.

Have you tried takeoff from grass runway? How long takeoff-run? (grass/tarmac)

This was just what I needed to get some motivation to continue with the building om mine SR. It has been laying on the building board for almost 6 months now without doing anything to it. I just have too many other things to do at the same time.

Here's a picture of all the finished parts of my mw54 before assembly....

OAK,

It takes about 250 feet on a paved runway. I have'nt tried to do a "short" takeoff. I just slam the power to it and slowly rotate when it looks about right!

That John.

He is a wiz with Photoshop...

Just kidding! How's it going?

Been sailing yet?

Take care. Joe
