I've recently bought a dyna craft bait boat for carp fishing that is a 40 mhz 2 channel transceiver\receiver capabilities but when i first used it I managed to drop the transmitter in the bath - oops! the said company wants to charge me £100 to fix it! but now I want it to do more than forwards\sidewards :- I'm thinking of re-kitting it out with the following :-

ESKY 2.4GHZ TRANSMITTER EK2-0406G + RECEIVER EK2-0424
FF40HX Forward Only Microprocessor Speed Controller
The boat has a jet drive system that only allows forward thrust and i'd like to add a propeller to the front to allow backwards motion, would i require 2 electronic speed controllers?
There is also a door at the back that opens, is there any way I can install lights that flash when servo opens door?

All your comments would be gratefull a complete novice! Rich

Firstly.... IDIOT!... :p:p:p The BOAT goes in the water... NOT the Transmitter!.. :D:D:D

With a forwards / reverse ESC, you should get some (but not much) reverse with the jet drive you have.. Does it not have a 'bucket' for reverse?
If you install a second motor / prop in the bow, then yes, you could install an extra ESC for the second motor.. or just 'Y' lead the two ESC's / motors.
Have a look at http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=783582 for wiring info for two ESC's / motors.

Yes, a micro switch on the servo could operate lights.

Hi Richie, I see you talk in £, are you in the UK?
Is it a "standard" type of transmitter? It could be that all you need is a new transmitter, which you should be able to get from somebody like Howes of Oxford for around a tenner. He tends to trade by buying bulk RTRs that are not proving too popular, and splitting them down. He then sells the parts separately much cheaper than normal. In the model boat world, it is normally the receiver that suffers, and are therefore in demand, so the transmitters, which normally avoid a dunking, are relatively cheap.

Rich,

Did you try opening up the transmitter and drying it out with a hair dryer?

I've never tried this with a transmitter but I did save my cell phone that way.

The faster you get the batteries out the better off you are, and of course the hair dryer is great to do as well. Once you are positive it has dried out thoroughly power it up and see what you’ve got, if it’s totally dead or glitches all is not lost you can still hit it with a shot of WD-40 or something similar that is conductive sprayed on anything that looks like solder contacts and blot the board off. Hopefully this will at least give you the option of re-engineering at your leisure.

Tie a string or strap onto the Tx and make it long enough to go around your neck. Works for me. Ha! Helps if you want to take pictures while running your boat too. Pete
