Does any body have any operating experience with the following RTR boat models
All are Aquacraft boats.
Alligator tours air boat
airboat (http://aquacraftmodels.com/boats/aqub29-alligator-tours/index.html)
Atlantic Harbor Tugboat
Tug boat (http://aquacraftmodels.com/boats/aqub59-main.html)
Bristol Bay fishing boat
fishing boat (http://aquacraftmodels.com/boats/aqub60-main.html)
As the 4 local Hobby shops I have checked so far don't have much of a selection. And are not RC/Boat orientated.
I was wondering the following questions
How good are the hulls?
Do they lend themselves to modification or kit bashing with out a lot of structural work.
And all the hype and advertising aside do they handle themselves out of the box with out a lot of fine tuning?
As I'm new to the boating end of RC, does anybody know of on line stores selling them.
One of the shops counter person, said to me tell me which one you want and I will order it! But I need the money up front, yet wouldn't tell what it would cost. He said around $250.00 to $300.00
I realize things are getting tight around here, but I guess I must have looked real stupid on that day ;)

PT- use the "Search this forum" button from http://www.rcgroups.com/boats-54/ , you'll find tons of threads with lots of info on these boats. Also peruse the "stickies" at Scale Boats, particularly http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=346768

Don't search on all the terms... try for example, just "bristol bay".

Greetings from the Antipodies.
I've just sold my Atlantic. I bought it second (or even third?) hand from a fellow Member of the Logan City Marine Modellers, mainly for a couple of my grandkids to use, but they prefer my Beadle pretend steamer (a Model Boats mag Glynn Guest design for a Thames Skypilot ferry).
The hull is well moulded from fibreglass and the superstructure is plastic, and, well yes, you could modify the superstructure, but I wouldn't want to touch the hull.
With the recommended battery the Atlantic took off like a ski boat, but that's what a throttle control is for. An excellent way to hit the water, it's about $500 in Australian pesos, don't know about the cost in Hew Hess Hof Hay pesos.
If you need to buy from a nearby model shop might I suggest that you'd be better off looking at what they do have.
A reasonable question is, is there a model boat club nearby? If so, the Members can help you out, maybe even a second hand boat.
Value - not too certain, but quick onto the water. A similar kit won't be too much cheaper, and a scratch build will cost the plans and as cheap as you can scrounge.
If none of the above helps, just remember that life's too funny to be taken seriously.

Thanks, For the info, I have figured out the key to making the search on this site work. Just a case of over thinking, and being to much smarter than the program. I seem to forget the KISS formula when dealing with computers. Keep it simple stupid.
I have been in contact with a member of the local boat club and am thinking of joining in the new year after the holidays. And the ice clears.
The most popular boats are the large scale 2 stroke 23/25cc speed demons at the shops. Which I have no interest in,and the attitude around here is the only RC is fixed wing craft. The help seems to all be flyboys and they don't care for the cars or boat crowd and even look down their noses at the helos that are becoming popular.
I also have a problem with spending money, at a store with little or no help and an attitude problem. I had one tell me that I should just buy an airplane and be done with it.
While I have nothing against planes and the RC flyboys, I have Zero interest in flying planes!
So I have enough information to chew on over the winter. Again thanks for the responses.

Don't ferget, the clubs meet inside when there's snow outside! And the club members serve as a great replacement for the nonexistent help at the typical LHS (CG Bob's excepted, of course...).

You guy's were the one I was flapping the keys about, but with the doctors appointments on the rise 2 older parents medi cab driving, and other house chores and an uncle and aunt that I'm the only responsible adult among the cousins they didn't have kids. So some times its 3 houses I taking care of, and with the wife still working. She voted me the chief cook and scullery dog so. With the holidays coming up it will be busy. And I still haven't figured out how I did all the stuff when I was working. I know I had more free time before I retired :D
(CG Bob's excepted, of course...). ? you can PM me if you don't want to violate any forum rules. Don't seem to have that one listed in the phone book.

Atlantic Harbor Tugboat
Tug boat (http://aquacraftmodels.com/boats/aqub59-main.html)
Bristol Bay fishing boat
fishing boat (http://aquacraftmodels.com/boats/aqub60-main.html)
these are both popular boats, I have the Bristol Bay and it is a nice relaxing time.
the airboat is a new kit and there may not be much info regarding it. I would like the airboat but only sail on a electric only lake so I would need to convert it.

Just picked up the Airboat (RTR), haven't had a chance to run it. :(
The B.B. is a great boat for the money.
