I have the Wicked 4800 which I am going to use in my GP L-39. I am using the stock 3mm adapter which came with the fan. My question is....how far should the adapter slide onto the motor shaft? When I put it on the shaft it goes on enough to clear the set screw holes but it does not slide all the way into the adapter. It was really a tight fit to get on the first time. I even had to check to make sure I was using the correct sized adapter. Should I worry about this or just make sure it is nice and tight and give it a try.

Thanks,
Mark

I will have to look at one that I have and measure it. Bascially the adapter should be able to slide on all the way down but there may be a burr inside the part from the set screw threads stopping it. What I did on mine was tighten it a little to teh shaft, then slide on the rotor to make sure it did not hit the motor mouting screws. Once it was clear, then I tightend it down good. One thing I found on the Hyperflow adapter is that the little grub screws are usually too long and stick out a little and that makes it hard for the rotor to fit on. So what I did was grind off the top of the grub screw with my dremel, you do not need a lot, anout .5mm, just enough to make the top of the screw flush then the rotor fits on much nicer and spins truer.

Thanks Don. I did notice that the grub screws did stick out a little. I will take my dremel to them and make them flush with the face of the adapter. I was going to open it up slightly with a drill but I didn't want to go too far and mess up the threads for the fan mounting screw. I measured the opg in the adapter at 2.92mm. I checked the adapter for the stock motor and adapter and it slid all the way in. Probably too far and it would hit the mounting screws.

Let me know what you find out when looking at yours.
