Check out the "Flying Models" web site.

Under "books hanger" it seems it's available for $16.95. I have never had it, but hear it is a fantastic read.

Great read on a great book. The video is even better, You get to see him fly a GL as a hand launch glider. Pretty good stuff. Well the worth the money. Like the part about thermal parachutes too. Great fun for th kids. Enjoy!

Anyone know how to reach Dave? I would love to send my copy to him and have it signed.

The OBSH is excellent, and probably one of the best "accessories" you can buy. Read it...apply it, and you're virtually guaranteed to get better flights.

Title page of the book has an address for Pony X Press. That is Dave's address currently.

I also have the book Dave wrote about the history of the house trailer/camper. I need to send it to him for signage.
Titled: Galloping Bungalows "The rise & demise of the American house trailer."

I use to have a copy of " The River Of Air " and had Dave sign back in the day when he attended one of the Riverside hand launch contests.
I loaned it out and you know the rest of the story

Wow! I did not know anyone had these in stock. I paid about 50 cents to much for mine then. Darn! I think I will live though. :D (they list it for 16.95 but with postage 23 bucks)

Thought I'd post it because you had seen it for up to $60.00. Hate to see people get ripped.

Might be difficult because Dave has become a bit of a recluse.
He also wrote books on bicycles that are very interesting for those that like to tour. (He would take trips to Las Vegas by bike, and then do the 'mountain' climb to get back home in Albequerque (whew!)).

For a good read on the whole spectrum of model aviation, find a copy of Dave's "Do You Speak Model Airplane".
Also, if you're wondering just who we're talking about, Ray Hayes has some of Dave's "Model Builder" columns on the www.skybench.com web site. Just click on "Soaring History". Before the days of the Internet, columns like these were invaluable - and they're still good reading today.

Not a book on sailplanes, but I have quite a few on model aviation.
A couple of years ago at the Oshkosh air show, I picked up a copy
of
Aviations Great Recruiter.

I would like to clear up a point about Dave. He is not a recluse, it may seem that way but at the young age of 66 he still works full time as a carpenter and because of his time schedule he is hard to get in touch with. The address inside the book cover is current and I am sure Dave would be happy to autograph it for you. As it stands now Flying Models is your best bet to get a copy. I talk to Dave at least once a month and the above information is correct as of today.

I too have an autographed new copy of OBSB, I got directly from Dave 3 or 4 yrs ago. The 10 commandments of Soaring are worth the price of the book alone. I use them all the time.
