Hey Sinth Hog, if you are talking about the Multiplex DG 600 I have flown one. On our small slope in about 25 to 30 mph. Very stable and looked great! Did some very scale loops and rolls on its maiden voyage which kept the heart rate up. Just make sure your launch man knows what he's doing.

My friend has one and I have extensive stick time on the plane. Not too scale, but flies great and is very forgiving. I recently ordered the master edition for myself. Prefered for slope flying, maybe a bit on the small side for aerotow, but definetly capable. You'll have a blast. just my opinion.
Good luck

I had the DG, and was very pleased witht the kit contents, and quality of the parts.
To the flying : I did not get to fly mine very much, because shortly after I started flying it, Ihad the opportunity to get my hands on a Multiplex ASH 26, so the DG had to go...
What I remember is, that she needs quite some airspeed to fly efficiently, it's no floater !
Unfortunately, around here in Ohio, we don'r have any slopes worth mentioning, I bet the DG would be a blast to fly on the slope !

thanks guys for the input on the dg600. i do have one but have only had one flight on it of our slope on southern van. island, it did fly very nice in a 25mph wind, very stable no nasty surprizes and best of all under crow braking it would just sit in one spot, could hover it like a heli, landing was uneventfull stopped on the ground in 2 feet. unfortunatly on the next launch my buddy let it go nose high it went srait up and strait down, narrowly missing me.i just about cried as i looked at her, surprizingly the damage was very minimal and shes ready to take to the air once again, this is one tough bird cant wait to fly her again. take care guys and lots of happy flights to all.dont we have a beutifull life eh to be able to do what we do.cheers. ron

I'm interested in the DG-600 that www.icare-rc.com is selling. More specifically the 2.7/3.2 metre version. My experience level: I have flown a small 2 channel hand launch glider (never had it very high) and a 3 channel Goldberg Eaglet .25 eng w/throttle, elev, rudder (got pretty comfortable flying the Eaglet). I will most likely be using a high start to get airborne. Should I go for the all-molded version? This will be my first ship with ailerons. Your input is appreciated. Thanks

http://www2.jonction.net/~icare/dg600.htm Hi, Welcome to ezone,The dg600 is a nice bird but it sounds to me like you need a lot more stick time under tour belt before you try these birds on. i would suggest something like a great planes spirit or a spirit elite if you want ailerons,or maybe one of the larger epp foam gliders. you can crash them and you wont hurt it, they make an exellent glider to learn on. if you go for the dg now your going to have a lot of grief. Please take my advice and save yourself the heartache of crashing that beautiful bird. Good luck.Cheers Ron

Thanks a bunch. I had the feeling that the DG 600 might be a bit much too soon. But it sooo beautiful. Maybe I'll get one to hang in my room until I have the skills required to fly it properly. The spirit elite sounds pretty appealing to me. Radios have changed dramatically in the past few years. After reading some reviews on this aircraft it seems that a 6 channel computer radio is the way to go. Can anyone recommend a dependable radio for a reasonable amount of dough?

I've been flying the Multiplex DG600 for about 8 years. It was my first scale model and is still my favorite. It is very agile and relatively easy to fly. Not for beginning flyers, but okay for beginning scale flyers with moderate flying experience. If building a new one, I would put spoiler servos in the wings. The spoilers tend to break if the wings pull apart on landing. I have three of these models, plus the new version. I'm selling one NIB kit of the earlier version if anyone is interested.

Do you fly your DG from flat field or slope? Mine doesnt have spoilers, flaps and ailerons. How many flights have you had on your bird? 8 years, thats relly cool. Welcom to ezone. Cheers Ron.

I probably have over 50 flights on the DG600, mostly slope, a few flat field. 99 % of my flying is off slopes, so I can't judge how well it flys in marginal thermal conditions. In good conditions, it flys great. It has spoilers, but because they keep breaking, I'm programming in flaperons. Thanks for the welcome.

Well said.

I have the Gerasis DG 600, and while it's great on the slope, it's for experienced pilots only. I've tried it on the thermal field and I can only say, make sure you have spoilerons, and make sure you have plenty of experience with planes that have a vicious stall. If you let her slow down, it will cost at least 50-75 feet of altitude to recover. Once you get the hang of keeping the nose down during turns, it's not too bad to handle.

If you plan on winching it up, I would suggest using a bridle. I used a single hook and had nothing but troubles (including a beautiful large arc on the winch line followed by a crash). After I switched to the bridle, it was easy to launch.

I would suggest not using a hi-start, unless it's got plenty of juice to get the plane to flying speed instantly.

As for the plane's strength, I have done full pedal winch launches (with over a foot of deflection in each wing) and it held up. It's strong, and though I would not advise pedal to the metal launches all the time, it can take it if you get a little over-zealous.

Hope that helps,

Ryan.
