You can read the amazing story of Miss Philadelphia IV in the bio of Maxwell Bassett on the AMA website. Look up the Museum History Program and the list of individual biographies. With 17 ounces of gas on board it took off from Camden NJ and flew for 2 hours 35 minutes covering three states. The AMA Plans Service lists several versions of the model.

Here is the aircraft, plans, and story. From a Flying Aces August 1937, in September 1978 Flying Models. 1928-1978 50th anniversary reprint special.

I have also added the Zaic drawing from his 1935/36 year book.

I took Chad's Basset "Miss Philiadelphia IV plans from above and re-scaled them to 100% and checked vertical and horizontal dimensions and offer them here for anyone who would lke to build "an original" old timer from the designer's own plan. A little rough but that's what you get with huge enlargements from low-res files.

Have fun!

Before you print those out Cash, let me go upstairs tonight and scan the article and 3-view on my girlfriends much higher resolution scanner and re-post again for a better results for you guys.

My scanner down here by my work bench is a cheap low-res 8 year old Cannon junker which I cannot throw out because I just like the software, user friendliness, and small size of the thing.

Don`t know if it will improve upon Rufus`s enlargement though, he done a good job there considering the quality of my scan.

By the way Planeman, I ordered from the AMA those plans you E-mailed me. They (your copy) gave me the inspiration I needed. Love that machine. I have decided I am going to build it this winter. A pile of work though! First I am going to see if some one can enlarge it even more here at a print shop another 10% or so. (Shhhhh Rufus, don`t say the model, secret old-timer project here at my Skunk Works building facility. The windows are blacked out and the yellow "Do Not Enter" tape is across the door so other club members do not get a glimpse of the start of my latest time machine. Just can`t have another like it at the field! lol!)

Chad . . .

Scan it at 300 dpi and in grayscale mode (or RGB color if you must, but the file will be MUCH larger) and e-mail it to me at rcarswellsr@att.net and I will put it through Photoshop and re-post it here.

And I can't remember what plan I sent you. Please tell me which one it was. Glad you liked it though.

To print out the full size Miss Philiadelphia IV you will either have to take the file to a blueprint house to put it out on a single sheet or use a program like TilePrint to tile print it out on your home computer printer. TilePrint can be downloaded from http://www.blackflight.com/tileprint/ for $16 (US) and will tile print .PDF files as well as many other graphic file types. It will also re-scale a plan. As large as the Miss Philiadelphia IV plan is I think it might be better to take it to a blueprint house rather than try to piece together that many 8 1/2" x 11" sheets.

Planeman,
Tracy said she would scan it in 300 DPI in grayscale mode for me tonight when she gets home with her scanner and I will then E-mail it to you.
