Has anyone attempted this?

Tomorrow I plan to send my Zagi THL (foam first) into the sky behind a TMaxx RC truck. The guy w/ the truck thinks that he can maintain a 45 mph speed, which should be ample to get me some height...

I put together a towline of 1 1/2' bungee w/ my tow cord stretched in it (bout 5') and another 35' of tow cord after that for the guinea pig flight. If successful, I'll splice on another 30' or so of 60# monofilament.

Any pointers/helpful hints?

Thanks!

John

i have done a lot of truck towing with hanggliders and we launch of the bed of the tow truck once up to the right airspeed [30 miles/hr but you must know that you can get into a lockout!

if you go beyond about 90 from the tow truck you can be driven into the ground real quick!

tow from the underside of the zagi just ahead of the c/g but your problem will be launching,,,the nice thing about aerotowing is that you can pull straight off the nose, truck towing can be done but your responce time will have to be lightning fast as your roll rate will be real twitchy

i cant seem to get my scanner working but i would have like to show you some old hanggliding pics of towing ,heck we even towed up behind a horse!!

cheers
