I'm at the point in my build where I need to start fabricating my bulwarks.
I have the 'stantion' locations but how do I build the bulwarks? Any help appreciated.

Use card to shape your bulwarks before commiting to ply (or other material). Once you have the shape to match the deck / hull joint, its just a matter of deciding on the height.
Its easier to put scuppers in bulwarks when they are cut but not affixed rather than do it when they are on the boat. ;)

Looks like you are doing a fine job on that boat! You're almost to the finish line. :) What MMI plan are you working from?

I have been saving Corn Flake boxes and old retail store posters for just such a need - In fact - it is allot eaiser cutting posterboard to shape than ply. I even use this method on the real boat when I have to make something at home - make a full size template of an existing hatch opening for use as a guide to make a replacement.

Tugboat Andy,
I got the plans in the July 2008 issue. It's the workboat 'Sea Helper'. My original intent was to build the local workboat but I don't have the skills nessesary to duplicate their hull, but I felt I could duplicate their upper.
I've attached a shot of the workboat. She is a workhorse for the company. Designed and built by them. I asked if they had any plans and the owner said, 'no'.

I like the "made in USA" across the side. That's something you don't see too much on the side of a tug. :D Great job on your boat so far though. I can't wait to see the rest of it.

That's great, Joe. If you can please post some more pictures of the boat. That looks like a worthy project. :)

Here is a couple more shots of 'the little tug that could', that's what I thought when I first saw her! She was all rusty looking and beat to h___, by the time I decided she would be fun to build, the yard had pulled her, reworked her drive train and repainted her. She's not real fancy; no radar, no winches, matter of fact NO navigation lights; just a little workhorse!

Toeup,
To be honest that's what I thought too. They have 3 tugs in there fleet. I'll get some shots when I can.
