Hi Don,

I'm thinking of using a Wicked 4000 kv on a Hoaye 64mm fan, 7 blades.
I want to run on 3s at about 30A WOT or so. Is this fan too much? It requires more torque than the GWS64, if that tels you anything. (higher pitch, 7 blade)

The Hoaye 64 can fit up to a 28mm motor, so I'm not sure if I need the standoff adapter, either because of size or cooling.

Thanks for any advice,

Marcelo.-

Is that the fan from Hobby City?

Is that the fan from Hobby City?Don
Yes, that one is the one I got, but knowing the width of the motors would help me regardless of the fan.
TIA,
Marcelo.-

I have that fan I can test it and see what I get and see if the motor fits.

I tested it and the fan is too much. I was getting over 50 amps on 3S!!!

Hmmm.. that seems what I had thought would happen. Lotsa blades, lotsa load but reduced 'scream', a passable tradeoff imo, If max speed is not the goal.
Any suggestions for a suitable motor for this fan then ? Clearly a larger diameter motor will have More tq, perhaps KV suggestion at least?

My guess would be a KV in the 3000 range??? Not sure really

thanks An odd duck this Haoye Fan. certainly sux more power than the toy Alfa one. However I like it because it dosen't have the typical 'Kid's Siren" sound of the other small EDF's. I suppose a motor that's Man enough to twist the aggressive rotor is indicated.
Guess I'm winding my own. Lotsa candidates at Hobby City.
Or possibly/eventually saying: "the heck with it" and installing a Wemo minifan rotor.. Now, that, is a known quantity and a seriously superior performer..over and above ..any.. of the smaller fan uints, by anyone's yardstick :-)
