Hi all,
here are a link to the new videos on water with dragstair und craftair. One video is from a small race track in a fair demo show.

Outdoor on a long street or asphalt the dragstair runs 60km/h with tuning motor. unbelievable fast.

What is "tuning" motor?
nevermind I see, its a brushless motor upgrade.
So 37mph with the upgraded motor, not bad. Not as fast as my Axon's, but thats because the Ikarus model is more of a traditional hovercraft.
Still cool though.
What is the size of this thing?

Hi, here you have the technical datas. A very cool thiung is, that the skirt is changeable in 3 minutes. 3 skirts as spare part cost 14,95.-€. The upper and lower hull is just fixed with 2 nylon screws.
A tuning motor is a brushless ESC and Brushless Motor. There it's possible to use big props of electric modelling aircrafts. Than its really fast and the performance on water is great to. Look the video.

Sacsha

The Europeans have long referred to "hop-ups" as we call them, as "tuning". I.E. a tuning motor is a hop-up motor. Aluminum suspension arms on an r/c car are tuning suspension, etc.

Just watched the videos. Wow, the Dragstair on water is very impressive. So it floats, that is cool. I like how you lifted it first and hovered it, than accelerated forward.
The indoor racing looked like great fun. That is where the Axon would be a good challenger!

Yes, with hop up parts everybody could setup the performance of dragstair und Craftair with own ideas. The skirt is changeable because tboth cfrafts have a ptented system for skirt changing.
It's fun on water and street. Very fast and cool performance. Next year the first hovercraft cahmpionschip??!!
New videos will come.

can it go on grass? the reason I ask is - everyone always asks me that.
do you work for Ikarus? also do you have videos of the stock hovercraft without the tuned motor?

Hello metroidrc and all,
The videos you see on water are all with the brushed stock motor and 3S lipo battery. No tuning motor.
http://www.ikarus-modellbau.de/onlineshop/deutsch/oxid.php/sid/fdda890295d4fd171604b1a794e1105a/cl/details/cnid/-/anid/8dc48fdc3dd607662.55999609/Brandneue-RC-Race-Hovercraft-Videos%21%21-auf-Wasser-auf-Land-und-in-der-Messehalle-Friedrichshafen.-JETZT-ANSCHAUEN%21/
The video on race track on fair is with brsuhed stock motor and 2S Lipo batterie from rtr version . The race track was to small for tuning brushless motors. The craft is to fast.
In this size 1:10 it's not possible to run on gras, because the air area unter the hovercraft for cushion is not big enaugh. For gras you need hovercraft sizes from approximately 70 cm lenght and 40cm width.
I'm the engineer of the hovercraft.
best regards to all

Hello Josh, thanks.
I know what you are thinking... :D
I said before that your machine is the best rc GEM and I still think the same way but, this new machine, is a real rc hovercraft, anphibious.
Moving on grass is good for sure, but does not makes your GEM an hovercraft if not able to travel on water.
Sascha`s Hovercraft is anphibious and of course does not move on standard grass but that is not mandatory.
If you look at that machine`s (Sascha`s) scale and dimensions, scaled grass would be a carpet and I bet it moves on a carpet. Real grass if you take it at the proportional scale, would be for that rc hovercraft like a real one moving trough the jungle. :)
Two different machines, both GEM/ACV but only one can be designated as an Hovercraft. We all know you never claimed that designation but one thing I am sure, you both have made the best commercial GEM/ACVs available on the market!
Good luck for both,
Carlos

Yes, very true, this is why I did not decide to call it a hovercraft.
I have a feeling someone could easily make it into a real hovercraft if they wanted.
The Dragstair looks like fun, better than the Scamp in my opinion.
I'd like to see some racing between all of these!

Hi all,
thank you for your positve feedback. Nice to hear that our crafts are ok in your oppinion in the performances.
All 3 new vehicels, Axon, Dragstair and Craftair, are very innovative and i hope that we'll infect more rc-modelling fans for hovering.
A big fun hovering day with races and demo shows will be great. Maybe in the next year we'll start with it.
very best regards to all,
Sascha

Hi Carlos,
yes, the dragstair and craftair are working very well on carpet. The RC-Car drivers want ta make competitions on their carpet racing track in halls.
Carlos,
I love your example with 1:10 scale on gras is like hovering with real hovercrafts in jungle.

hey guys! I'm new here - hello to everybody ;-) !
I just got a dragstair because it seems quiet easy to have fun with it and looks like good performance on the videos. a few hours ago, I tried first time in a small lake and put my flycamone2 on the front of the dragstair - maybe this was the reason why it swam so very slow.... maybe the camera is too heavy to place in front of the hovercraft.
So now I think about putting the camera above of the propeller - do you think its a good idea or is it too high for a good barycenter? the camera is not waterproof so I would be glad if you could tell me where you think to best place the camera :-)) ! thanks in advance for any tips!

Looks like the Dragstair just got ripped off in China.
about 1/4 way down this thread you will see photos of one from the Shanghai model show.
