Does anyone have an article, or good idea, or pictures on mechanics/electronics for aft door lifting up on a USCG 87 CPB, or lowering aft hatch on german Arkona model.
I have a friend building a small landing craft where ramp needs to raises up/down.
I imagine the electronics are similar for anchor winches
A simple servo doesn't seem adequate.
I would appreciate any ideas

you could use a modified servo to run a winch

Jim,
A simple servo, not necessarily a cheap servo, might be able to handle the ramp/door if it's 'large' enough and the mechanics are handled right (sail winch servo?). And then again, given a larger than servo sized motor, 'rmdesignworks's thingy ought'a be able to handle just about anything if you have the room. I know that I've used such a setup to move a quite large (weight) device but used a cordless screw-driver motor to do it, wouldn't exactly fit in an 'average' model boat :). Those 'Protector' class boats are nice, aren't they?
