Hello all-
Many months ago I remember reading about several users with pick-and-place machines who might be able to help me out with my current problem:
I am trying to extend the camera module from an Aiptek A-HD+ camcorder so that I can pan and tilt just the camera module, not the whole rig. Here is our discussion thread:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=936068
The problem I am running into is the small .5mm pitch of the connectors. This is still the testing phase of the project, but it's already proving difficult.
I am currently trying to mount connectors to project-type proto boards as a proof of concept using a shielded IDE cable. It took me quite a while to get one connector mounted. My surface mount station works great to remove parts, but not so great at mounting them, especially at this small pitch.
What I'm looking for is someone who might be willing to assemble a dozen or so of these extender cables if the test is successful. I'll force myself to finish this one by hand and complete the test, but once I get the proper breakout boards printed and cut I'll need some assistance to assemble a dozen or so of these extender cables.
I'm not trying to make any money on these, I just want to be able to provide them to the rest of the pilots who are trying to use the Aiptek as an FPV system. It records HD while sending an SD signal out to a transmitter for the pilot.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I am willing to pay for time and materials within reason. If the cost of the project is prohibitive, then it may die a sad death...:(
Thanks in advance,
Rob
