Airtronics had there new SD-10G 10 channel radio at the Chicago Expo this last weekend. It is a 2.4 ghz radio. Hold 20 models, for Aero, Sailplane and Heli. All the programing you can want and all switches are programable. This radio should be available to the public in the first quarter of 2009. Maybe by February.
I attached a couple Picture of the radio that was on display.

It looks like a Stylus transmitter but with a 2.4 Ghz module. :)

Correct, that is the Stylus with a proto type 2.4 module and antenna. They figured there are so many Stylus being used, they would design a 2.4 mod so people who like the Stylus can keep using them

No info on Airtronics website for the new 10 channel. Does it frequency hop?

Wouldn't make any sense for it not to.

Currenly Futaba's is the only one that does. All others just lock on to two frequencies and do not hop. Actually, I think i read that the German Weatronics system hops but it's rediculously expensive ($500-900 for the Rx only).

Airtronics 8 channel RDS8000 is supposed to be FHSS, but I have not seen any pictures of a spetrum analizer yet. The Jeti sort of hops, but it picks 5 channels and hops between those 5 (or something like that). The new XPS firmware is supposed to have a full time hopping mode. Corona is rumored to be FHSS but I won't believe that one 'til I see it. All in all, this new 10 channel radio and the Stylus mod is all good for everyone. Eventually this will help drive the price on every system down, and this of course helps the buyer. If I had nothing, and wanted something the Airtronics stuff looks real promising, especially since there are few threads about problems, mostly positive stuff is what you find. They really need a few more receiver choices, a small 6 channel, a smaller 4 channel and maybe a really small indoor receiver like the Spektrum AR6300. That combined with the 8 and 10 channel receivers should be enough for most needs.
The only thing that bothers me about that 10 channel is the amount of chrome. I don't like the way it looks, and I can only imagine what it will be like when the Sun hits it and shines up into your eyes.

Well, what do you think FHSS stands for? Hint: Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum. One of the reasons I bought the RDS8000 is that I favor the hopping technology.
I suggest you go to the Airtronics website and read up on it.

I'm with you CR. Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum is currently only provided by Airtronics and Futaba. FHSS IS THE MOST ROBUST method of transmission with the proper header functions intact.

I have a Stylus, and a new RDS8000. I have been waiting for a 2.4 ghz from Airtronics for quite a while. When the RDs8000 came out, I had to have it. I am a little disappointed in it and Airtronics, in that it doesn't have all the features I wanted.(no rudder expo, servo speed control)
I think I will wait for the 2.4ghz conversion for the Stylus to come out, rather than purchase another new radio. The RDS8000 will serve a useful purpose for some of my "simpler" planes, but the Stylus is still my radio of choice for the planes needing that extra bit of "coaxing" to fly nice.
Village Idiot: I agree, they need to come out with a few rx choices for different size airplanes.
Just my 2 cents. :D

Oh yeah, I forgot, the RDS8000 is frequency hopping and is a solid system. I have been using it all summer and not a single issue. Even with 5 other 2.4ghz systems in the air at one time. :)

Man, finally a brand new high end radio for those long suffering Airtronics Module/Vision owners, specially in the Soaring community, who've been holding on to their old radios since nothing better had come along. They never quite took to the Stylus, since the Vision was so good, and had hoped to skip that and wait for the next leap. Never imagining that it might take a decade!!
Let's hope the SD-10G is as good and trouble free as we hope. Lot's of people have been waiting for this one. Let the flood gates open :)

it's a real system for sure, when it get's here is anybody's guess. I also saw it on some japanese web site, as the product was being displayed by Sanwa at the Tokyo hobby show.
