...For those that followed along on my thread in this group and the Sailplane
discussion group a little while back here is the update on my progress at bringing back the Zaic Floater G-110. I have a gentleman in Huntsville that is doing my cad work and it is in its final stages,I have also located a source for my spruce spar material and other balsa parts. A trial burn was done on the plywood fuselage parts and they all looked good with the exception of the pods pofile it was a little off but has since been correrected. Hopefully I will have it in production shortly as it was one of Frank Zaics finest works. For
those not familiar with the Floater G-110 it is Franks first introduction to the
new world of R/C flying in the early seventies as all of his gliders before hand were free flight. The Floaters wing span was 110"s and the fuselage is a pod and boom design made from 1/16th ply. A shorter version could be built according to the plans and Frank even included a 130" version enwhich he tells you how to do so. The Floater was fully winchable and hi-start launched. Way back then I remember the Floater would continue to go up when others were looking for a place to land. Tho it only got into a short production and was never promoted correctly it stands to this day as one of the greatest of Frank Zaics designs.
