Heres your chance to get the Plantraco gear without paying for the ridiculous shipping prices. For 1 month Plantraco will be shipping free all orders made at
http://www.microflight.com/
I would refuse to pay the $80 shipping fee from Plantraco in Canada to Melbourne but this is just awesome of them to do this and it will give more of us the opportunity to fly some of the micros.
I have a Classroom Fighter allready and i will be getting some more gear from them now with the free shipping!

Vet, as per my Pm the other day, i've had a chat to Plantraco and all being well looks like i'll be able to sort out a dealership as H store are dropping them.
hopefully should be able to keep the prices down to reasonable as well.
if anyone is interested in anything let me know and i'll start puting together some pricing.

plantraco stuff looks cool, but it's way toooooo..... expensive, you would probably just be better off buying a BNF parkzone vapor or ember for way less the cost of the carbon butterfly or the micro butterfly, which both are only 2 channel.

woodsy... do me a price on the kolibri plane deal (including controller)? I'll see how it compares and go from there. Make it quick though.... otherwise I'll take advantage of the free shipping deal.

The Classroom fighter is awesome, simple but a good Micro.
Theres a fantastic review of the Classroom Fighters here:

Ive been messing around with micro gear for some time now, the lightest Ive been able to make is a 1gram "Flying Weight" AUW- 2ch micro plane. That's half a Kleenex tissue in weight to be precise:)
But my point is that Ive got a little experience in the Micro gear and i would recommend the Hellcat, it's a good simple 2ch plane.
Some might not be able to Fathom the cost of the Plantraco gear but from where i sit having programmed chips, wound my own micro Brushless motors and actuators.... to make my own gear then the cost of the Plantraco can seem justified at times.
Heres some pics of the Micro gear that i make just in case you don't believe me ;) Ive got none flying at the moment just stripped airframes.

I love the look of the Komet... plus the fact it is possible to correctly control it.. How would they do the elevons with the Plantraco tx? Does the tx have mixing functions?

Yet the TX has mixing. it may look like one of the crapy toy chinese Tx's but it's actualy quite a decent little thing. another option is the Monolith (http://www.microflight.com/Online-Catalog/Radio-Systems/Monolith-Buddy-Box-Transmitter) it hooks in to a Hitec or Futaba buddy port and transmitts on 900mhz but lets you use all the functions of the host TX
i'll be able to do the Kolbri set for about $190Aud (pending on AUD holding about 65c us), pretty much i try to sell whatever i buy of for the USD$ list converted to AUD$ and just make a few % on whatever discount i can work out with the suplier.
let me know as i'd like to place an order by end of the week.

$190 is good! I paid $199 for mine which would have been when the Aussie Dollar was in the .90c area...

Veteran,
yep, but that was for a classroom fighter right? I am talking about the Kolibri ($149 USD versus $119 USD). If I used the free shipping option and ordered direct, with PayPal exchange rate (as of the other day) it was going to cost me $178. Still too much for what is a non-essential purchase for me... I have enough stuff already :)
As I said, when the AUS dollar gains strength against the USD, then I'll have another look at it.

I notice an add in a recent Airborne mag where http://www.simitaraircraft.com.au/
state they are Australian agents for Plantraco, so does that mean you will deal through them?

Nope, dealing direct with Plantraco, they have a 'dealer' web site accesable with pasword which is the same as the normal one but 'dealer' pricing.
