View Full Version : Help! My Stabilized Heli needs Altitude Hold

I use Helicommand and AP2000i for my aerial photography (AP) work.
Both are good at leveling and stabilizing my helis even in windy conditions.

However, maintaining altitude is something I really need. Makes AP a lot easier I think.

Is there any gadget out there (that works :) ) that I can hook up to the heli (e.g. throttle) and maintain altitude?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Well Carvec has done it for years, reliably, with barometric pressure, as part of their complete system. Now nobody makes an alt hold device for helicopters, it would be a rather simple unit. Alt hold, and controlled slow descent would be very useful for us.

Are you using both HC and AP2000I in the same heli?

What sensors are you using with the AP, gyros, IR or both?

I just wait for the day when Dean can provide this :)

I don't think its possible to put both on the same heli.
But with people like Dean around, you never know. :D

For AP I use both the IR sensor on one heli and gyros (helicommand) on another.

Still looking for viable Altitude Hold for helis though. Carvec is beyond my humble reach.
