A-7 Corsair II ARF Scale Ducted Fan RC Jet
32-1/4" wingspan, 36-3/4" long, 240 sq. in. wing area, 30-1/2 oz. flying weight. The 70mm fan with its outrunner motor on 4 lithium polymer cells propels the big A-7 with power and speed. Handlaunches are a breeze; the airplane has an easy to grip fuselage, just a firm toss and off you go. Assembly is quick as all of the tough steps have been pre-done. Tail surfaces must be glued to the fuselage and connected to the pre-installed servos. The main wing has carbon tube reinforcements and must be screwed in place on the fuselage after connecting the aileron servos to your receiver. By the time you have the included 2200 mAh 4-cell battery charged, you should be ready to fly. The CG is set automatically when you install the battery in the battery compartment under the canopy. This airplane is handlaunched and lands on its belly, great for those who don't have a paved runway to fly from. Airplane comes pre-painted with the water slide decals pre-applied. Ducted fan and motor unit is easily accessible through a hatch in the bottom of the fuselage. This is a 4 servo airplane: 2 for ailerons and 2 for elevators. Check out our web video for a great demonstration of the easy handlaunch and great flight characteristics of the A-7 Corsair II.

It is the same as my Air Thunder packs, if that helps?
So, according to THIS (http://www.rcaccessory.com/pdf/Battery%20Tap%20Configuration%20Guide.pdf) reference, that would make it the Align connector.
BTW, mine went up for the first time today! What a great maiden...throttle up and let her rip! Absolutely no issues on the hand launch and what a great flying EDF! A real floater on landing too!

I ordered mine last week and it should be here on Tuesday. How are the assembly instructions and infromation about the throws, etc.
How is the cooling system for the battery and ESC? Do you need to add extra ventilation channels?

Just got mine in and i have a couple questions, one is that the motor unit seems loose in the fuse? Is that normal? Also how much time you guys getting on the 4s battery?

Having several EDF jets I can tell you that the motor should not be lose in the fuse. On the bottom of the fuselage there is a set of screws that allows you to access the motor. If it is not fixed in one place, then you will need to glue it in place. There should be some marking where the Fan units should be set.
With power management you should be able to get between 10-15 minute flights. If you use a lot of throttle then your flights can be less than 10 minutes.

I was looking through the manual and I noticed that they don't specify any throw setting. What throw setting have you been using?

Has anyone had a problem with the ESC. It won't boot up, have no throttle, servo's working fine. Plug the battery in and nothing, no beeps no nothing. Every once in awhile the motor tries to turn but it just kind of chucks back and forth. Any Ideas?
Thanks Mark

mark, make sure your batteries are fully charged. There seem to have been some problems with the A7 ESC. There is a separate thread about it.

I will be putting mine together this week. Hope to maiden it this weekend.

Replacement fuselage is out of stock for the Replacement airframe. Just an FYI if placing an order or expect a looooong wait for a backorder.

I looking to add this plane to my hanger. Anyone have any video to share or does anyone have any regrets about this plane?
Thanks,

If your looking for a larger well built, stable EDF than this is a good candidate. It is not overly fast, if this is what you are looking for than go to the HP EF-16.

Thanks. Lightning fast is not important to me, but looks are! Would there be any problem getting the RR version and using with a Spektrum receiver and Tx?

I was thinking of getting one of these and putting the HET 6904, 2W 20 motor, and a Turnigy 60 amp ESC. I just wondered if you can put a bigger battery in? Some close up pictures of the battery compartment and canopy would be greatly appreciated.

Can someone help? I've yet to fly my A-7; Is there an issue with the programming on the stock esc that I've read reference to in this thread? If so, can you change it without a programming card? What throws are people setting up? Has anyone heard from Jalin lately?
Thanks bunches,
Tim

Hi,
The ESC programming should be fine. We're flying ours with the stock settings. You'll probably want as much throw as you can get on the ailerons. Inboard control surfaces are less effective than outboard. It makes for nice smooth aileron control though. It doesn't need much elevator throw. You might cut it back to 70 or 80% throw and add 20% expo to keep it smooth. You'll love it, so get out there and have some fun!

Thanks for the reply Jason. But to be exact, what are the recommended throws in inches? And should expo be added for ailerons and elevator.

Tim

Tim,
I have no idea what it is in inches. It's not super critical and everyone has their own preferences for how they want it setup. The best way to start is to reduce the throws a little bit, fly it and see what changes you need to make to suit you. I fly mine with the ailerons maxed out with 20% expo. The elevator is at 100% travel adjust in the radio and 30% expo. Your settings might be different. It's a very stable groovy airplane so it will be hard to do it wrong.

I just got mine and Hobby Lobby can't tell me where to locate the fan unit. Where do the tabs on the fan go?
Thanks,
