The first round on Saturday was interesting, something like half the pilots underestimated the downwind on landing and flipped over. I've never seen so many planes end up upside down. There was some great lift most of the time at least if you could find it which not everyone did. The landing spot as usual was interesting and a bit challenging for most of us.

The winners in all classes did an outstanding job, especially with conditions on Saturday.
Myself, the most fun I have ever had at Visalia since the late 80's, and the worst score too. :)

Joe,
Jim was flying a Supra. I didn't see Sherman's plane. I was flying an Onyx JW, not a Sharon.
I've been talking to the orange team about more sailplane support; we'll see what happens this upcoming year.

Yep, it was fun. Nothing on Saturday was a gimme - it was a survival test. Probably the most memorable flight was Round 4. I turned just twice...a 180 at 6:15 in, to return to the field and another 180 at 6:45 in to set up for final. Don't think I even reached the turnarounds until the 3 minute mark!
Special thanks to John Diniz and the JR crew for their support in the soaring community.
Tom
PS Joe - for your list, I use a JR 12X 2.4 (I'm fairly certain Ben does also)

SJ,
Like JE said, I was flying a Supra on 9303-72MHz. Sherman was flying a Perfect with 9303-2.4. Not sure what Jason was flying, but if he followed in his Dad Steve's footsteps, it was a 9303 on 72MHz (but not certain).
And I want to echo the thanks to JR for their support of this event and all the soaring events I attend in the midwest. They are a real asset to soaring. Go JR!!

Actually, I used a 9303 with a 2.4 module because my other 2 Aspires with all my flight gear (and X9303) is still in transit from the Masters aboard the Horizon truck (I thank Horizon for helping with model/equipment transport). I planned for this and left one of my Aspires at home along with a 9303/2.4 module. I'll admit it does look like an X9303 because Thomas Cooke did the "Australian mod" for me and routed the antenna wire inside the Tx, being that I'll never use VHF (50/72 MHz) again anyway.
Regarding the 12X, with the World Champs, Masters and Visalia all in a 3 month span, I didn't have time to program and get comfortable with the 12X. But I did wave it around on the podium because, now that the season is over, I'll be switching to the 12X. The X9303 (or 9303 with 2.4 module) does everything I need it to do, but I can't resist playing with a new, top of JR's line, Tx. Besides, I can justify it for UAV use and make Uncle Sam pay for part of it (what else am I gonna use all those 12 channels for? :) My trusty X9303 will still be at my side as a backup, and so others can download a good glider program, if they want.

It can be downloaded from my (or anyone's) transmitter via a data/trainer cord (OK, it may not be a "good" program, but it works for me :) I didn't mean to mislead anyone into thinking it could be sent via email.

Via email if you get the Data Transfer software. $49.00 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=JRPA310
I plan to have a few set ups for the 9303 on line at F3X. My 6 servo base program is on at least 200 transmitters already.

OK, yes it can be emailed, but I don't have the Data Xfer Software......yet. Get one of Tom Copp's programs. He knows the radio better than anyone I know. Checkout his site at F3X.com for other good sailplane info.
