How are you planning to derive the lifting component?

Magic, obviously, will provide lift. Propellers are just there for show.

One of the old timers, can't remember his name but he designed & built models for the magazines, did something similar except it was more blimp shaped with a Cox .049 on the nose. No wings, just the fuselage. Flew fine too, so maybe a ball isn't entirely out of the question.

That was published in Air Trails in the 1950's (1952-1956 sometime - it's in my limited collection). It's called the "Martian Spaceship". If anybody is interested, I can dig it up and print plans any size up to E (44" x 34") or send a TIFF or PDF.

Somebody brought a very large one to a meet this year, Joe Nall maybe?, and flew it. It was in a magazine photo this summer.

There were several very unique designs of "spaceships" published in the 50's. You can see one we did a couple years ago on this link (http://www.montanadesign.com/planes). Click the picture of my dad for details (top row, center).

I'll take care of it ASAP. Right now I have 6 bikes and 8 airplanes piled in front of the bookshelf. Maybe I can get my son in there after he finishes school tonight. I'll do my best!

Roy Clough, Jr. designed the Martian Spaceship, and a model of it flew at SEFF this year.
