I've looked at my MicroPower Recorder several times since I owned and every time that big glob of solder around the deans plugs annoys me. Newer versions may have this feature but I'll assume not.

My thought to help improve current flow and use copper on both sides of the PCB is to notch the PCB on the positive terminals of the Deans plug.

This simple little notch roughly 2mm x 6mm on both sides of the PCB will allow the positive solder tabs to recess into the PCB board. Because of this recess the negative tabs can be solderd flat. Whne the positive side is soldered it can be solderd to both the top and under side of the PCB allowing for lower resistance and less solder usage. I also estimate a 1g weight savings if anyone is counting that.

I guess no one saw my suggestion

After looking it over, the notch can only be applied to the load side deans without altering the PCB to make contact on the Negative tabs of the deans. But it still would be an improvement to notch the load side.

Hi Trailranger,

Thanks for your suggestion. The eLogger V3 indeed has notches as you describe.
