Hi,
I'm new in giant scale electric models.
Just begin to look at existing power systems for my next project.
The problem is that nothing seems perfect.
I explain :
I'm building my own electric CAP 580 33%, I try to make it as light as possible in order to use a reasonnable power system. (no double AXI or A80 or similar)
To keep the cost as low as possible, I plan to use the HC sentillon 100A ESC.
That's why I wanted to use a motor that will be near 100A at full throttle.
The CAP is designed to perform in 3D style (fat airfoil funfly wing, ...) and low speed so I'd like to use a big prop (26x10 or similar).
My question is, which motor, under 10S lipo, will drop a 26x10 or more near 100A for an almost 3700W power?
I'm thinking about the axi 5345/18 but it develops only 3000W on specs.
Has anyone tried to overload it with a 27x10TH?
I also see the reaper GR-70, any review?
To your mind, is my project realistic? (full 3D style with 3600W on a 15 or 16lb bird?)
Thanks for your help

PS : I apologize for my REALLY POOR english :p

hey nose
we should have some numbers up today or tomorrow from numskull he has quite a few flights on his and i like to post real flight numbers not test bench numbers . and we are finalizing the best esc to go with it for easy setup configuration , i like to post all the details so you guys and get it in the air quickly instead of messing arround with stuff. as for wattage you will be right on the money with that prop. we are also shooting some video of it in flight.

Yes, it's a completely realistic goal. HERE is a video (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784011#post8704492) of me doing exactly that, flying 3D on a 16 lb. plane with approximately that number of watts.
Good luck w/ yours. Sounds like a great project.

Thanks for reply,
I already thought about putting a hacker A60 18L.
The specs of this motor are really under the real power it can deliver.
But I would be so scared using it under 3700W!
I also remember a guy tried the A60-18L with an APC 26*13 and 26*15 and measured respectively 97A and 105A. It's perfect for the sentillon 100A but I really worry about motor longevity

I'd read some threads about planes this size, see what people are actually using and enjoying long-term. We're into the thousands of flights on our setups and perfectly happy with them.

You should consider the 5045-18 form Hyperion: http://www.newheading.com/?Page=serve&PageNumber=6&ProductTypeNumber=1&ManufacturersNumber=1
I fly a Hyperion Yak-54 2,16m (or approx 90 inches) and I have 4000w.
I fly with 12S 5000 mAh on a 24x12 prop.
Lots of power :-)

cool, I didn't knew the Hyperion!
Seems awesome too!
I will probably choose to run a 10S setup and a large 26" or 27" prop. Still studying wich motor will do it better than others.
Just started the building of my CAP yesterday by cutting the wing ribs.
I'll add some pics ASAP :D
Thanks again
