I put the Wicked EDF 4000KV with standoff adapter and EDO rotor plug in my StarMax Rafale I purchased from Hobby Lobby. It works perfect. I used the old ESC that came with the plane and are using 3S batteries. The power seems as good if not better than the stock motor. A little difficult for me to tell however because stock motor burned out in about 30 seconds of flight so I never got a good feel for it. I can fly for 6 minutes easy without taxing the battery too much.

Some have used the 4800KV but I imagine it would suck up the 3S batteries and I don't know if that RPM is really a good match for the stock fan.

The stock fan can handle the 4800 on 3S no problem. I have run the stock fan on 4S on the 4000 KV motor with no problems. The 4800 on 3S does draw more amps but that is the way it goes :D

I just installed the 4800 with the pentium 40 in my Rafale. Flies and sounds great on 3s. However, is it ok to run the stock fan with the 4800 on 4s? (always wanting more power :D )

Only asking because I just saw this battery for $25 and I might want to try it. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7315

Officially I do not recommend it, although guys have done it, the watts are over 650 and that is beyond what the motor was intended to do.

Thanks Don :D

I may just hold off then, at least until the Rafale is decimated!
