My friend Ray Fulks ( SEFSD Club member) just sent me an
e-mail saying the Friday events at the MWE have been cancelled due to the "quagmire of field & parking area". He said it had stopped raining and with some sun and wind today and tomorrow .....things should be "doeable" by Saturday.

How will the cancelled events on Fri be handled? Are they just gone, & Sat/Sun/Mon will go on according to scheduled? It would be nice, if we could see a schedule for 2003. Is indoor flying going to happen?
I plan on doing the $25 registration for all days, will the rate be less since Fri is cancelled?
Thanks for your clubs efforts, I know it must be taxing under the circumstances.

I got a taste of it in South Africa, when the 2 previous days before the Dec 4 solar eclipse were hot & in the 100's (in the shade). Absolutely clear skies. The day of the eclipse, this crud working from the east from Mozambique & fouled up most of the South Africa (Zimbabwe was clear, as was Botswana). NASA group in Kruger National Park got wiped out, major bummer I knew some of those guys. I had cloud interference & darn nearly got wiped out. See

Well, I arrived in San Diego around noon and decided to drive out and have a look at the waterlogged field. I arrived about 1:00 PM and although there were some muddy spots in the road and parking area .....the field was fine. The sun was out and vendors were getting set up. Soon, a few flyers began to test the sky. After what seemed a bleak Friday forecast yesterday .....it turned out to be a pretty good open flying session from about 2:00 to 5:30 PM.
The forecast for Saturday and Sunday looks good :)

Glad you made it there safe and sound. You should feel fortunate, as the weather east of the Mississippi totally sucks. Torrential rains in Tullahoma, sleet in NC, and 12 inches of snow predicted for us around the beltway. Can't wait to see those photos and video.
