View Full Version : Help Needed on CCPM

I have just bought a Logo 10 heli and am setting it up with 120o CCPM as
recommended. The servos are used for:

Rudder, Elevator, Aileron Left & Aileron Right

I am using the Sanwa RD6000 which supports this but does not tell me which
servo goes where. The Rudder and Elevator are easy but I have Aileron (L/R)
and Pitch

Is it

Aileron Left to Aileron(L/R)
Aileron Right to Pitch

or the other way around

Sorry if this is confusing but I do not understand which way to wire it up?

Many thanks
Steve

Forget rudder Steve, that's not "included" in any CCPM system as it's
neither cyclic or collective (the 2 "C's" in CCPM)

Aileron servo goes into aileron channel
Elevator servo goes into elevator channel
Pitch (Collective) servo goes into the pitch channel (usually channel 6)

With the radio set to ECCPM all that's left to do is sort out the direction
of the servo's using the reversing functions on the radio.

It's either that or the opposite (aileron right into aileron chan and vice
versa, but it won't damage anything if it's the wrong way, so try it both
ways) Remember the reverse switches may need to be farted around with.

You're not the first, but experimenting doesn't break anything, so you've no
worries there:-)

Thanks for the advice. It now looks right, just need to test it and find
out.
Will brush up my flying skills (or lack of....) on the tru-flite simulator
first i think !!!!!

Thanks again

I've just been flying a Logo 10 myself Steve (it belongs to Alan Rait) and a
couple of things became apparent. The links going to and from the swashplate
are FAR too tight and sticky when the heli is new and this stickiness shows
itself as a reluctance for the heli to be trimmable. Add a little right trim
and the heli scoots off right, but remove the trim and it's off to the left,
and this makes flying a piggin' nightmare.

We went through this on Saturday, so Al took the heli back home and squeezed
all the suspect links with a pair of pliers to free them off (the old ways
are still the good ways) until there was no friction in the control system
and we were back out with the Logo yesterday. A different animal altogether.

Now it flies like a helicopter SHOULD fly (it answers the commands sent
out:-) so I'd advise you to check those links before you take the Logo out
for it's first test, or you could be put off the heli for life.

I know a man who can but I will say this.

Squeeze ALL the ball joints into submission! I didn't and the maiden flight
was interesting. The whole rotor head was so stiff that it would NOT return
properly to neutral positions! I spent about two hours on Saturday night
going through the system and now the head is so smooth!

When Beav set up the Logo this is what he did.

First he set ALL the links to the 3D lengths to maximise the pitch ranges.
Starting with Idle up 2 hover pitch was as near to 0 as makes no difference.
Top and bottom give about + - 12 degrees which is good. All done
mechanically.

The remaining pitch curves were set electronically in the tranny as follows:

Idle Up 1. This gives about - 5 at the bottom and the about + 11 ish at the
top.

Normal mode is about -3 +8 and +11 ish at the top.

One thing to note. Following Sunday's flying I found the Logo 10 VERY
responsive to cyclic inputs. We dialled in 50% expo to smooth things down.
I've NEVER flown expo before! This evening I've just noticed I had the
mixing links the wrong way round at the top of the main mast! You need the
shorter arm nearest the mast and attached to the swash, the longer arm goes
to the flybar.

The tail is a bit twitchy at the moment, not sure why. Have just gone
through the entire tail linkage easing things but things were quite good
before. Hmm...

I've set up the ESC in normal mode so I followed the advised throttle
curves. They're good to go. Will probably change over to governor mode this
weekend, if not before.

Let me know how you get on.

I just ordered some DS361 servos from CyberHeli to go with a future
Logo10 purchase, how do these compare? Also wondering what kinda of
setup I'd get if I go with a 13cell pack (as Bob has been flying) but
drop a tooth on the main gear (14) - will I get a decent head speed
and better duration, as I don't yet need full blown 3D type
performance.

Cheers,
David.
