Thunder Tiger EB4-S2 Pull start problems.

Please remember I'm a complete newby at this lark so go easy on me...

The pull start on the engine appears to have three modes :-

[1] It works correctly.

[2] It jams solid, the cord wont go back down the little rabbit hole.

[3] It doesn't catch/grip at all.

From [2] if you take the glow plug out and rotate the flywheel it will
spring back into the rabbit hole.

[3] If you take the glow plug out and spray some WD40 down the hole and
turn the crank by hand it will start to grip again.

Three questions:-: I the answer to all the rest of the questions going
to be, buy a starter box?

2: Should I buy a starter box?

3: Are the pull cord starters really this bad or do I have a bad one?

4: Where do I buy a blanking plate to replace the pull cord apparatus?
