I have the above heli, There seems to be a lot of play between the clutch
bell and gear attached to the clutch bell, and the shaft coming off the
engine/clutch. Is this normal?

It sounds like the pinion gear on the clutch bell has worn where it goes into
the bearing. This does happen if the pinion is not a solid fit in the bearing.
You may be able to replace just the pinion, but its probably easier to replace
the whole clutch bell (not many places stock the pinion seperately). When you
replace it, glue the pinion gear into the bearing with 5 minute epoxy
(threadlock will *NOT* do!).

You'll still be able to remove the bearing from the pinion with a few sharp
taps from a hammer, but you will eliminate the wear problem completely! Just
make sure you don't get any epoxy in the gear itself or the bearing......!

Hi,

It seems to be a common problem. I've gone through it also in my Ergo 30.
Eventually Loctite 638 (green) did the job. Now it's OK.
