For all you 'tuggies' out there, there is a book available showing the history of Foss Maritime in pictures.

Some good quality pictures of the older tugs as well as the more modern tug's in the Foss fleet.

Highly recommended!..

I wonder if Crowley could be persuaded to do something similar... ;)

I haven't had that one in my hands yet.

I highly recommend the Michael Skalley book on Foss (if you can find one). It goes boat by boat until the late 1970's.

BTW - we bleed "Foss Green" up this way. :D

I wondered why i kept seeing red... :p

Perhaps i had better build a 'Green' boat after all... just to keep things equal.. ;)

LOL - I noticed my green machine and big red look like a matching pair of running lights out on the water. :p

The FOSS MARITIME COMPANY book by Arcadia Publishing was written by Mike Stork who I understand passed away recently. Chuck Fowler and Mark Freeman are coming out with a book by the same publisher on Puget Sound Tugboats in the near future, it is at press at the present time. The Skally book is an excellent book on Foss history. Foss also had a publication called FOSS: A LIVING LEDGEND but I don't know if it is still available. Foss also sponsored yearly calendars with art from marine artist featured in it. Jerryj98501

Most of the good reads on Foss were written by people who worked for Foss or had a good working relationship with them that allowed the access. Always lots of photos in the books. Our club is fortunate enough to get to take a tour of Foss every couple of years that includes a presentation my Mike Skalley ( author/employee--unofficial historian) with lots of photos and commentary. The tour is pretty interesting as well as they let a bunch of modelers climb all over a boat or two. Surprised we have not comadered a tug yet........

I received my copy today of the Mike Stork Images of America Foss Maritime Company book and would recommend it.

It is quite interesting and highly informative on the history of the Foss company and family. 127 pages, all photos are in black and white.
