The Local shop has been farming out repair work to me (to help pay for my
addiction)
And today i got a terra crusher (Jesus this thing is big!)
Owner complains that its starting funny, stalls, and makes a noise in
reverse.
My observations so far are that it appears the One way bearing in the
starter is trashed. the starter catches - sometimes - and will usually let
go and spin freely after only a few rotations.
Also, the spur gear feels really tight against the clutchbell. Difficult to
turn compared to other cars.
Im *assuming* the one-way is toast,
the engine isnt tuned right (stalling) - i'll probably fix this on my own -
and that one of the complicated adjustments in the reverse mechanism are
wrong.
It did not come with the manual, and i havent tested her yet, but if anybody
has some experience
and is familiar with the above problems on the TC specifically, Id really
appreciate the guidance.
TIA, mike

whoops, should have inserted the message before hitting send
I'll bet that the spring in the clutch on the engine is broken. This could
jam the clutch, causing the spur to be hard to turn, would cause erratic
idle, as the clutch would engage too soon, and can cause starter problems,
as turning the motor over with a jammed clutch will try to move the truck
forward, which it cannot do since you are holding the truck.
if this is the cause(it happened to me) just take the clutch off, and bend
over the broken spring end to make a new loopand re-attach.

A Classic TMaxx malody. Clean the bearing in alcohol, and strongly consider
replacing the bushing with a shielded bearing <assuming the bearing is in
the backplate, and the one way is outside the motor>
