looking to buy a tmaxx or a emaxx. Anyone have advice as which one to buy? Not sure if i wanna tune the nitro trucks or just go with emaxx style one. Is it hard to tune the nitro trucks? How long does the emaxx run on full charges? Any info is appreciated.

I can't recommend the T-maxx. It's just not the best m\t for the price. Go with a HPI-Savage X if you want Nitro. Far better machine.

E-maxx, is fantastic however, MASSIVE power, no tuning issues which are very common with Nitro, far easier to maintain...with the power you get from electric these days, there really isn't a reason to go Nitro unless you just...really love Nitro.

Are you looking for runtime over speed or what

i want the packs that make it go 30mph. But i dont wanna have a truck that will run only 10 minutes.

SPC packs. ProMatch Packs for best performance.
Brushless for speed.
Kershaw Designs for bashing, and racing.

So if i get 2 sets of packs at full charge i can run the truck around 30-45 minutes depending on how hard i run it yes? And i want the packs that make it run 30mph,what are those the 7.3? Also how long does it take to charge a pack? Thanks fotr the info btw:)

Why do you want 30mph. You're a beginner, you wanna take it easy, and get used to the truck, controls, etc... You should be worrying about the packs, speed, looks at a later date.

I owned a nitro truck a few years back, had a hell of a time tuning it. But far as controlling the truck,i have no problem with that. I want speed(30mph) i know. I play with a friends nitro truck on occasion and understand how it all works.

Still.
Going 30mph out of the box, is very bad. Unless, you already own a similar truck.
For instance, last night, I was at a friends house, racing. With his old old XTM Xcellerator Electric.

Had NO clue how it handled.. So I took it onto 25% throttle.

Glad I did. Since it ended up the throttle curve was off, and the steering sensitivity was HORRIBLE.

If I was at 100% throttle once I put it on the backyard, it'd go directly back into his room, and I'd be turn Marshall for 4 hours.

Nope. Himoto might be a China company, or something similiar.
Don't ask me, never owned a nitro.

Stick with the popular brands, where there is support everywhere.
Ie: DuraTrax, Traxxas, etc etc.

what kind of nitro truck did you have? if you know how to tune them then it's no big deal it all depends on the weather and the climate if you take it to another place where it"s COLDER you want it richer if you in a place where its hott or warm you want it lean. if you buy the new trucks these days you really don't have to worry about tuning all you have to do is tune it to your weather and climate and your all set and don't forget to brake it in lol.

I had a tmaxx 2.5 if i remember right. So basically you just make it run rich or lean depending on the weather right?

Traxxas Nitro Models are just hard to tune. TRX's are touchy engines and that's why I stay away from them. On top of that, the durability of the T-maxx stacked against other competitors really isn't that good. And honestly...by the time my E-maxx runs out of juice, I'm pretty much ready to go. I remember with my Savage and my Nitro Rustler, I NEVER finished a tank of fuel, always got bored before then.

This nitro stuff makes my head goes round. Like LiPos... Meh, I guess being 13 and all has something to do with that.

In all honesty, who woulda thought? I mean technically ELECTRIC is more expensive to start off with, as with a nitro one you just pour in fuel and go. Honestly though, the HPI M\T I had never had ONE problem, never had to tune it, took it from georgia to florida, my TRX couldn't handle it without serious tuning (and would still shut off) the engine in the Savage didn't need to be tuned at all...things are a beast. If only they designed the E-Savage correctly I'd be all over it.

Nitro sounds cool, looks cool, but often is a pain, and of course, smells really, really bad. Annoying when transporting it to a place to run, then getting it on your clothes since it's being a pain to shut off or something else happens, and smelling the rest of the day.

I have owned nitro and electric, from a t-maxx, 2 e-maxxs(old and the new one), savage ss , e-savage, 4 xxx-t mfes, 4 mini lst, 2 lst2s ( ended up turning them to electric), and e-revo. I can tell you this I hate a brushed electric motor (and I raced in the 19turn class at the lhs track) I love brushless. no fuss, no mess, no noise, and more power than nitro. Whaat more can you want. Nitro is ok but they take to much time, from tuning to CLEANING. Electric power is clean no messy oillydirt to try to scrubb off. I would go with the new emaxx or if you can the new e-revo is awsome (going brushless with my e-revo very soon if losi or castle would hurry up)

Forgot to add if you get a 8000mah truerc or spc 8000mah lipos the emaxx will run for about an hour on one charge at 28 to 30 mph!!! Also kershawdesigns has cheap brushed upgrades($50 to $100) for the emaxx to get it to 35mph+ and still get about an hour runtime with the 8000mah lipos

Marvo, are you sure you can keep concentrated on the EMaxx for an hour? really.... =/

Doubt it can do an hour with 8000mAh, 30 minutes, at most.

alot of people like to do all that stuff with nitro clean it, scrub it, fix it, i mean with a real car people Love that kinda of stuff taking a real car apart it wouldn't be as much fun with electric car clean it and charge it their
wouldn't be any thing to fix it would be just clean their wouldn't be any fun in it. it would just make us lazier. i mean it's cool if you like electric i like a electric but i prefer nitro because it's fun working and getting messy. and you learn more stuff every time you take something apart. im not trying to dis you but in my opinion i like nitro a little more. :)

I totally agree with you rc pro 86 but i still really like electric just cuz of the realibility factor. I just bought an upgraded slash cuz i just hard too many nitros and it was way too much work to maintain like 6 nitro cars so i scaled back to 3 nitros and a slash and its perfect.

yea i like electric to i love the slash it's a great truck but nitro can be a pain to maintain. if i was stressed out i would totally take the electric over nitro just cuz their quite and fun to mess around with :D lol
