Well, if you're going gas powered, that's another forum, but I must say that this is a great kit to build. I finished mine about a month ago and fitted it with flaps and a bomb drop (you gotta have a bomb drop!). Overall, a very easy model to build, just time consuming because it's so large. I would suggest you use a servo for each aileron just because the plane is so big and it's easier. The only thing to watch out for is warping the wings when you are covering them, but that's easy to fix. Also, I recommend using wood glue instead of CA throughout the model to save your fingers and lungs; for me it makes building a kit much more pleasurable when the experience is non-toxic. Also, the telly will fly on almost no power, so a .60 2stroke will be more than enough. Mine flies with authority on only 750 watts. Oh, and definitely get a good sanding block, you'll need it.

I always thought about the Sr TeleMaster. I had the 6 foot Tele kit in 1986 for my third bird. Had the flaps and bomb drop hooked up. Really great model. The Sr will be just the same except BIGGER! I think the one you build will mean more to you than the ARF. However, it saves a lot of time to go ARF. I recently got the ARF 6 foot Tele and it flies great, just not too much pride in it. Mainly that crumby covering they have on it. I wish they would sell a RTC model where you could choose your own. A .60 size motor should propell you fine. It will carry lots bigger if you want, however. Good luck on that project.

I have built 3 of these and love them. One, equipped with a 23cc gas engine is used regularly as a tow plane for large 1/4 scale gliders. The oldest I have had for 23 years and the newest (the tow) is only 4 years old. All are still in perfect shape with the oldest suffering from some deteriation of the monocote covering (I now only use ultracote).

I have the 6' version (ARF) currently it has the recommended electric motor in it. It really is a floater, Almost to the point of can it thermal. Last night I pulled the motor and am going for about 2x power of the original setup (650 watts). I plan on using it as a Tow,Piggyback,Bomb drop plane. It appears to be able to carry tons of weight. I put flaps on mine as well. However I don't think it needs them at all. Maybe that will change once I get the bigger motor bolted on.

The motor upgrade was nice. I now feel like I have power to handle just about anything I may need. Still have not towed anything up with it but in time all things will come.

I measured the Cord on mine as 12"

But if you go by the specs on HL site you can calculate the cord.
wing area 848 / span 73 = cord 11.6

or for the 8' senior version
1330 / 94 = 14" cord
