Seased = Ceased?
dissasebled = dissasembled?
So a chunk of the magnet had broken out?.. it didnt explode?..

Ceased = Seized? :)
Sounds like a bad day for any motor...

that is one of the things that can happen if you overheat a brushless motor.

Ceased= means to stop= stop being a motor when all h*** broke loose.----------Seized=to grasp quickly= parts saying enough is enough! Sorry to hear about motor, bummer! Spelling is to help you get thru your bummer day!

This is not unheard of with inrunners. The adhesive or 'mount' for the magnet on the spinning armature gives up and it slams the magnet out against the coils, siezing the motor and usually damaging it in some fashion.
If the coils are undamaged, you can usually get a replacement armature from the manufacturer and fix the motor. If they are damaged, the manufacturer will likely exchange motor- either for free or give you a 'discount' for returning the damaged one. Either way, check with the manufacturer to see what they would be willing to do for you.
Not all brushless motors are afflicted by dismounting magnets jamming them:
Outrunners don't usually suffer from this problem because their magnets are trying to 'push out' against the very thing that contains them. The coils are fixed like on an inrunner. It's possible for bell deformation to cause magnets to become 'loose' on an outrunner but they don't usually jam because of it. Just watch for it to start acting 'funny'. Most outrunners can also be easily repaired by your lonesome.

EMSPAUL, you're good, careful they will hire you! ----The spelling person, it may have helped him forget his woes. Now be glad it wasn't a Neu motor.

I have noticed over the years that some posts do suffer from such egregious spelling, syntax and punctuation errors that it is difficult to determine just what they meant to say. This is a statement of fact, not intended as criticism of any individual.

Generally, if words are spelt in the same way that most of the readers normally expect them to be spelt, misunderstandings are minimised. This applies even more when trying to use a search engine. I allow myself one mistake per day. I'm about half way through the next century.
Are there any masterclasses on brushless motors out there? I get the feeling that I have a learning curve in front of me as these motors and controllers become more common. The theory is simple enough - the hard bit is knowing the potential pitfalls, and how to avoid them.

Well said! Spelling especially in the world of searching! I'm not trying to hijack but you mention bl systems and understanding in laymans terms in the area of power compared brushed motors. This is where people find it hard to buy bl units. When is too much power, too much power or not enough. Also the same with lipos is in the same arena. You see boats on U-Tube take off like a banshee chicken and spin out and act like they're not under control. This posting is in line with the orginal posting and not hijacking. You go to many sites and first thing that comes up is will this motor work? Now on this site we have REX R, N. H. Schmidt,Mr. Pompbled,Mr. 785 and a host of others that i don't want to misspell that have enormous knowledge. Take us to your leader!!!!!! I hope this helps many!!!!!
HUH?????? What were it what youze done said?????????? :D

I think it would have been cool if the bl motor had actually exploded.

essentually motor selection is a matter of what you desire for propellor speed(rpm) and work from there. bl motors are a bit easier, in that it is a fairly simple matter to figure what the motor speed will be for a given voltage :)
