Hi,

I'm about to start my first hovercraft project. It'll probably be a Griffon 470TD in RNLI colours. I'm planning to make it from Depron.

Does anybody have any advice on building with Depron? Is it suitable for the entire hovercraft or will it need reinforcing with balsa, carbon fibre etc.? Does it need waterproofing?

Thanks

it depends on really, if you are building an airplane you must have reinforcement or it will flex alot, but in hovercraft and WIG you might get away with only depron if you have sidewall that naturaly strengthen you main fram.. anyway a cuple of carboon rods dont hurt

I suggest building it with epp foam if you can get it. If you bang up your hovercraft with depron its gonna break very easy. Otherwise use lots of carbon like skywalker said!

try using Correx... just seal the ends of any of the open corrugations........its very tough and proof against almost anything.....2mm,3mm all the way to virtually armourplated 8mm.Advertizing boards, pizza boxes, estate agents signs  .check the spad forum for supplies and tips. :)
