can the brushless rpm sensor be used when the motor is used as generator?

i am thinking of experimenting with with turbines and and intent to use my v2 loger to measure performance.
my question is if its posible to use the brushless rpm sensors while the motor is NOT the load but generating the current.

I think it would...

With the eLogger V3 I also get a reading when the prop is windmilling, so that is more or less the same....

I needed to connect both wires to the motor.. one alone did not give me a reading. Maybe that has something to do as well
