My nephew has a Jet Stream 1000 with the GP Recoil Nitro motor that has spent more time trying to get it to run than time enjoying it. Has anyone seen a conversion to electric around and if so, what setup did they have? Duration, speed..etc...

I was thinking that a 550-600 speed motor with Esc and 7-8 cell cp2400-3000 mah packs would be easier to maintain at the cost of some topend speed and duration, but would run when he wants it to. Also, I would have to mount the electric motor and adapt to the output shaft for the GP hardware...

Have a look at putting a 700 series motor in the boat instead of a 550 type. The boat is a bit large for a single 05 sized motor unless you want to run a gear reduction on it.
A 700 will give you all the power and speed you can handle and will be a lot less maintenance. You can also run it with up to 12 cells if you want to.
The 500 sized motor will burn up prety quick if you try running it on much more than 7 cells.
I would bet you can get the boat moving just as fast in electric as it did on nitro with that set up.

the 1000 i alrge hull

I would use and 800 sized brush motor either the Lightning 800BBX (I sell it) or the Graupner 820BB. (about $75 each)

18-20 Sanyo CP2400 cells ($120 a pack) and a Lighting or RC hydros speed control ($95).

This will get you one the water with a quick boat mnid to high 30's with 4- 5 minute runtimes

There is also about 5 mph to be had by getting rid of the kyosho outdrive and replacing it with a separate rudder and driveline

ANDREW is correct replace it with a good motor like the 800BBX, and heres a example of the hardware setup on a cutdown Jetstream 800 i did.

Just opened a new site for quality fast electric boat hardware. Great prices.
