Guys,
since I missed the maiden of Bill`s Powerhouse Saturday night at my field, he called me tonight so I could see it fly after his final tweaking and trimming of the ship.

And to top off a great night of flying for me on my plane (and almost bouncing my plane into the side of it), he let me get my grubby hands on the Powerhouse controls to try her out.

Oh how like how steady it flies. Turns are nice and flat. No wiggling or porpoising of any kind. Smooooooth sailing boys and girls.

I like how this aircraft fly`s way better than my own.

Hard to compare Tinman 1`s Powerhouse to Bill`s. They each seem to have there own character. Maybe due to the less dihedral in Bill`s. Who knows, but I like them both. Both are powered with the same propulsion system too.

Here` a couple snap shot`s, the proud owner and his craft, one of me I sneaked in there cruisin` around with it  , and a short low-quality (sorry) video clip I posted on You Tube of the machine.

After Bill`s put more air time on both of them maybe he will tell us what he likes/dislikes of each for a comparo (if he quits talking of his Flying Quaker long enough that is).

Chad.

Translucent orange monocote Cash, it has to me my favorite colour for sure. In the sun it looks like it's on fire, thankfully it's not. This Powerhouse fly's really well after a little nose weight was added. I hate lead but in this case I had to do it :o Both Powerhouses I've flown this year are just a bit sqirrelly on the ground but once you get used to it it's not too bad. Kind of wakes you up between flights. Thanks for the comments Cash and thanks very much ChadH for posting the pics. Regards Bill

Hi Bill, and Chad great pictures of your orange crush Powerhouse, looks awesome, I really need to get going with my build again, a slope trip attracted my focus away from my POWERHOUSE, but I am inspired again.
Please wont you give me the CG point you finally found most comfortable to fly RC with, in inches/centimetres back from the L.E....thanks I.A.
Once again well done I hope she gives you many enjoyable flights.
:D
Regards Mike who will soon also finish his plane

Hi Mike, the Powerhouse is a little tricky to balance because of that bulldog nose which I think makes the airplane. It will balance a little further back then alot of models and mine balances pretty good at 35% of the chord. Not nose down but pretty much level. Be sure to have lots and lots of rudder,3/4 of an inch of elevator is plenty....you will only need it for flaring apon landing.
5 degrees down thrust on the motor is a must and an older heavier engine would be a great asset for balancing. Might as well get a brass Higley nut next time your in the LHS as well. They can be a little suirrely on the ground so I would recommend a stearable tail wheel as well....keeps the heart rate to a minimum. Try and keep the tailfeathers as light as possible and if you are using rubber bands on the main wing try and get the dowls a little higher on the fuse if you can, #67 bands are not quite long enough unless they have been stretched several times first. Keep radio gear, batteries etc. as far forward as possible. This is a very sweet flying model as far as sport flying goes it is definately in my top 5 for performance and handling. Have fun buddy. Bill p.s. when do we find out the colour? :D

Give the guy (and me) a measurement dude, going by the spar. Tinman 1`s was about 3/4 of a inch behind the spar.

As a matter of fact, no. Now you can sell me the "Orange Crush Special" since all your gonna fly anyhow is that "John Deere Quaker".

Let me see, how much I got in my pocket..........hmmmmmm........nothing, just lint. Dang, empty after mason jarrin` all my cash for that open rocker yur gettin` me.
