I have a Traxxas rustler... electric..
I need a primer on gearing.. I put a mod.
17t mot. in it and it goes slower.. than
did before.. it still has stock gearing
cuz when I put a smaller spur on it.. I
can't get the motor to slide up far enough
to reach the spur it just grinds the gears
larger pinion? or big spur smaller pinion?

Hotter motor, smaller pinion (and/or bigger spur). When changing
between similar winds of motor, a good guide is to go down one tooth for
each turn - so if a 13 turn motor runs on a 25 tooth pinion, an 11
should use a 23.
