I just tried running PhoenixRC on my MacBook Pro, in VMware Fusion 2.0 running Windows XP, and it works. This is the first time I've seen an app that requires DirectX 9 running under a virtual machine. That said, it still doesn't run well enough on my computer that I'd use it that way instead of rebooting into Windows, but the fact that it works at all is pretty exciting to us Mac users.

The problems I had with it were 1) Phoenix only runs at around 25-30 FPS under Fusion, even with all display quality settings turned to low, and 2) the aircraft colors were all messed up, though the sceneries rendered fine. Otherwise it worked pretty well. My computer is a MacBook Pro with 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 2 GB RAM, and X1600 Video card with 256 MB RAM. Another person posted on another forum saying Phoenix worked well for them under Fusion on their Mac Pro Quad Core 2.66 GHz machine, though he didn't define more precisely what he meant by "worked well". So maybe those with faster computers will find this a better alternative to Boot Camp.
