I'am sure many of you have seen this "Model-Toy" (my word) before ,sold on the internet as the Smasher Destroyer. Also manufactured by the same Chinese company HENGTAI is a Kiev Class aircraft carrier(same scale) and what is listed as a fast warship, actuslly a slightly larger scale model ofa modern 1970's era Japanese PT boat (an copy of a Tamaya kit). Here is my detailed out Russian Guided Missile Destroyer. All the Smasher stickers were removed, changes included, removal of what appear to be life boat davits on deck ,gray painting of most silver areas, also the missile launcher tubes, the oversize Helix Helocopterwas removed (unscrewed) and replaced with a scale sized one,and helopad markings added. I have been running this ship with NMH rechargeable battries 6 V. to run at a scale speed. These boats (ships) come in three frequencies 27 MHZ ,27 A MHZ, 27 B MHZ. The bad feature of the Destroyer and Carrier is that they have a Safety Interlock system (to protect kids fingures?) so boat will not run out of water unless you attach clip leads to metal on prop shaft. I always like to test my boat on stand before putting it in the water to sure everything runs. Youcan do this with the PT boat. Some of these boats suffer from sudden motor failure, not worth taking apart to try and fix a basicall sealed up motor, but given the low cost of these boats discounted on the internet you are not out too much. The aircraft carrier is unblalanced in the water,my friend had to figure out how to add stick on weights inside the hull so it would sail without listing to one side. Again a cheap boat what do you expect. The numbers on the bow are is the stock (item) number of the boat pad printed on not easy to remove so I left it on. Also the Red Star decal I added to the stack is not protype, but I liked the look. Nate Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.

There have been a couple of these 'toys' rebuilt here on RC Groups. I like that yours is the nice one without the 'pod' engines.

You've done a very good job of fairing it out. If you can open that deck, try laying the antenna down or running it as a thin wire up to the mast for radio rigging.

These make for pretty good 'stand off' models. To a point though, too much detail is wasted. You'd almost be better off buying a plastic model and making it RC for inexepensive conversion.

Your's looks well done. Congratulations!

I do not know about the model, but the location Nate is running at looks pretty cool.
