My wife and I visited our friends who have a Chapparal boat and we went for a ride. Their boat is awesome, I love it! It has twin V-6 engines, each has 225HP so 450HP pushing this boat. Each outdrive has two counter-rotating props. The exhaust exits under the water, not through the outdrives on this particular boat. The music they make at 4000 rpm while cruising at 25 knots is ecstasy! It's like a V-12 Ferrari! :D
The first crazy thing we saw was a freighter with its stern way up and its bow way down. Looks like the Graupner Neptun! Looked like it was in serious trouble. Turned out it was being worked on, either the rudder or the prop.
Then we had some jet skiers jumping the wake from Jeff's boat.
We passed a couple of HUGE oil tankers anchored offshore.
We saw plenty of nice fishing boats, sport fishers, sailboats, etc.
I also got a bucket load of pics of the two Crash Rescue boats docked in Long Beach. One of them has been converted into a luxury yacht.
We saw long boats with college kids manning them with oars. We saw people standing on surfboards, using a paddle to move themselves along. All sorts of interesting sights.
Here are all my still shots, uncropped and unedited. Just resized to smaller.
