I was wondering if there is some basic thing I am doing wrong. I loaded the phoenix sim on my laptop, not sure if it has full capabilities for it,but it seemed
to load without any problems, I have tried both a DX6i and LP5DSM xmtrs.
with either one I get "please reconnect or swith on your transmitter.
with the DX6i the transmitter comes on when I plug it in. with the LP5DSM
I have to turn the xmtr on. in either case I get the same message. when I
switch around the the heli will start up then shut down. I did have realflight G2 on the computer and it worked but I removed it. would apprecite any help but I have to admit I am computer challenged.thanks bob

I have PhoenixRC installed on my Dell M6300 laptop and it runs with no problems. Do you have a licensed copy of PhoenixRC? The licensed version comes with USB cable that has the dongle built in and PhoenixRC will not work with out it. The symptoms you described indicate that you are not using the proprietary cable or your USB port is bad.

I have a Spektrum DX7 transmitter and it comes on as soon as I plug in the USB cable.

Yep.. their cable has a box in the middle of it.. and THAT'S what you are REALLY paying for :) (Its their way of copy protection)

If you don't have the Phoenix cable you get a different message, which tells you to plug in your cable. If you have the Phoenix cable plugged into the computer, but don't have it attached to a transmitter, then you get a message like the one the original poster described. So for some reason it's not detecting that you have your transmitter plugged in. Could be a bad cable, bad jack in your transmitter, bad USB port.

If you have the PhoenixRC cable, the transmitters work, and your system is still asking for the transmitter, then the problem is likely in the USB path.

When you plugged in the PhoenixRC USB cable for the first time, did your computer tell you that it found new hardware? If not, you might not have Plug and Play (PNP) enabled. This would not explain why Realflight worked, but I do not know if Realflight has a dongle USB cable.
