Any work or anything available for an on board GPS system that would bring an out of sight glider home?

Flying a glider at the edge of sight is a bit scary so I have to back off a bit. If it had a switch that would assume control and bring it back into view would be great fun.

That wouldn't be legal under the new AMA rules. They frown on models flying themselves any more.

Hi Andy, This issue was brought up by our AVP at our Warbird fly just this past Saturday.
DHS would like to shut down RC flying in general, or at least severely curtail it. The AMA is getting ready for meetings soon with the FAA, I believe and other agencies on this issue.
I like Dusty's idea though, just recently I just barely managed to get my 2M electric sailplane back in sight, scary feeling :o, a very legitimate and resposible use
Hopefully, the AMA will be able to convince the powers that be, to realize that chartered clubs, that can monitor improper activities are their best bulwark against our "toys" being used for terrorism. I cringe when I see guys who want to extend the range of their radios so they can fly some miles out, using GPS and video feed to fly, lets leave that to the ones who are qualified, and authorized ;)
