Hallo All,

I was at Malaysia's largest naval base about 4 days ago, and I saw two subs undergoing what seemed to be refurbishment. I asked a naval doctor (my dad is undergoing hyperbaric treatment)
and he said the subs are ex-swedish.He didn't know what class or where they were built.I 've tried a lot of times searching the web and all,and I think they weren't built at Kockums unlike most other swedish subs.I checked out the site and all their subs have x-tails,the ones I saw had cruciform tails.

Another site, warships of the world had a 2000 update only and said they had heard rumours of Malaysia purchasing subs.

Anyone with information about swedish subs and/or the rumours please share your info, thanks.

P.S. -My condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the Columbia tragedy.:(

Did the subs look like this? I remembered your post when I saw this model, labeled a "Coggs 500" type. That's all I have come across at the SubCommittee site.

Scifi,
thanks for the reply, but that's not the one.The ones I saw looked really conventional , like short nuklear subs with diesel sails.I'd post a pic but my computer is a(DON"T LAUGH!)
Pentium 100 without a scanner and there are always problems with it.I'll try to get some pics in soon.

According to www.DutchSubmarines.com the transfer of 2 Zwaardvis-class boats has been an on-and-off again deal for some time. Perhaps Malaysia got them afterall? The boats look like what you describe.

Scifi,
Thanks a lot for investing your time in replying to this thread,I visited the site www.heinzwolf.com(I think) which has info on the Zwaardvis class and one on the pictures showed the sub being towed to the transport ship taking it to Malaysia.Funny thing is I've been to the site lots of times while I was gathering info on model subs but never once did I read the captions.Just looked at the pictures.

Thanks again.
