Just wondering if anyone knows of a group of forum dedicated to making scale models of Classic Antique Boats Runabouts? It would be nice to find a dedicated group for knowledge base!
I was at the Antique Boat Museum at Clayton NY Annual Boat Show and Auction and saw some very nice models and am wanting to build one from scratch.

Maybe not a DEDICATED forum... but there are so many dedicated mahogany modelers HERE that you won't go wrong!
Start by going through the "sticky" at the top of the Scale Boats sub-forum, look for multiple builds by the likes of Pat Tritle. Or just start at the Boats forum and search on "mahogany", you'll be surprised what you find!

We've been looking for someone JUST like you! One of the biggest problems for small boat modelers, scratch and kit, is the availability of quality deck fittings. Some progress has been made by Kmot, who has found that resin or metal fittings can be effectively "chromed" with a special paint... but still, most of us boat modelers are not quite into, or able to, make really nice deck fittings.

Fittings aren't too bad to make for me but I have a lot of professional resources.
I use 3D computer modeling along with cnc machining or send out 3D printing to make masters. I tend to work from plans and make cast parts to suit a specific model.
Best to contact me by email regarding fittings......

Jack,
ALCLAD II (http://www.alclad2.com/alclad-home.html) is the “special paint”. It's a chrome lacquer.
