Hello,
What's the best transmiter for a beginning heli-pilot? (but who want
more than just hovering)
The price for the FF9 is higher (+200€) Is it worth this?
I heard from pilots who loved FC28, other only want FF9, so I can't
make the choice.

Are you sure the FF9 is that much more than a FC28? The FC28 needs to be
extended with some switches and sliders before you can really compare both
radios.
Both radios are good enough to keep up with you for a long time. I think
with the FC 28 you will never need another radio as far as features are
concerned. The main difference of course is that the FF9 is designed as a
hand held radio while the FC 28 is more often used with a tray. This is a
personal preference and I would consider this difference when choosing the
radio.
If you specifically ask which to advice to a beginner I would say the FF9
because it has a more user friendly interface and is ready to go out of the
box.
You can't go wrong with either radio though, there is no bad choice.

Are you sure you don't mean the 9Z radio?
The 9Z and the FC28 have comparable features, but as stated in another post,
the FC28 is designed for use with a transmitter tray and does not have all
switches "from birth". Both radios have more points on the throttle curves
(13 & 9 respectively) and more free mixers and are generally more flexible
to program.
the FF9 is a cheaper radio than the FC28 and the 9Z. Other than that, it is
a great user friendly radio, and most pilots will never need more. Unless I
had an unlimited supply of money (I don't), this is definately the radio I
would go with (and do, by the way).

Are you positive about that Chris? The FF9 and not the 9Z? Seems wrong to
me.

A lot depends on whether or not you want to be holding a big HEAVY sideboard
or not. The FC is a BIG tranny designed to sit in it's own tray whereas the
"9's" are designed for either single neckstrap use or simply holding.
Holding the FC for any period will make your arms ache for fun. Also it's an
old design (but VERY "useful feature filled" particularly if it's the v3
model, but the re-sale value is bugger all unless you live where "sideboard"
trannies are "the" popular choice.

Hi, I really ment the FF9 (also know as 9C), defenitly not the 9Z
(because of the very high price for a beginner)
After reading all this I think I'll go for the FC-28. I like the
design of a handheld, but prefer the features of the FC-28.
Thanks a lot for the advice.

With the FC, be prepared to spend more money tha you're expecting to. They
come as standard with "some" switches and sliders built in, but if you want
easy access to things like idle up values and the like, you need to fit the
correct rotoray knobbies. I've got 6 additional rotoray knobbies and 3 extra
switches on mine. One of the "extra" switches is the Idle up selector (3
position) another is the throttle hold and the other I use for HH/Non HH
selection.
Remember too, they're HEAVY. I don't even use a neckstrap, I use a fucking
CRANE :-) (Known locally as "Beav's bra-strap" for some reason:-)
