Smoke cartridge illegal?

Are smoke cartridges cosidered pyrotechniques in the state of Illinois? They're not made to explode just emit a thick smoke some with different colors. They're the same smoke cartridge used for airplanes. I'm thinking of putting one on my PT-109 just for show. :rolleyes:

I'm pretty sure that they sell "smoke bombs" at Wal-Mart here in Illinois around the 4th of July so I would think that you would be fine. :)
