Got a little lesson in the amount of energy them there blades store today!
Having driven about 40 minutes to the flying field this afternoon, I arrived
to find it empty, well the wind was blowing and the rain pissing down. I
decided to wait for it to stop raining and then see if I could get a fly
with the X-Cell.
It was probably more windy than I have ever flow in before, but decided to
crank up the heli and see what would happen. Up came the revs as I opened
the throttle and it was just getting light on the skids when the engine
coughed and died. Cos the wind was a bit gusty and in an attempt to slow the
rotor a bit quicker I gave it a bit more collective, buy this time the
engine had been dead for about 10 seconds. All of a sudden the bloody thing
took off! It went up about 4 feet and I was then able to hover it back to
the ground!!!
Just amazed at how much energy there was left in the bugger with a dead
engine:-o
After a second try, and cutting the grass with the tail, I decided that it
was just a bit too windy;o)

Is that a full english gallon or a half measure American gallon?
